General Questions:
1. Why should I have honeybees professionally removed instead of spraying them?
Spraying or exterminating honeybees is not only harmful to the environment but also leaves behind honey, wax, and larvae inside your walls, which can attract pests and cause structural damage. Professional removal ensures the bees are safely relocated and prevents future infestations.
2. How do I know if I have honeybees in my home or building?
Signs of a honeybee infestation include increased bee activity near a specific area, buzzing sounds within walls or ceilings, and sticky substances (honey) seeping through walls. A professional inspection can confirm the presence of a hive.
3. Are you licensed and insured for bee removal?
Yes! 4 Brothers Honey is fully licensed and insured, giving you peace of mind that the job is done safely and professionally.
Removal Process Questions:
4. What is your process for removing honeybees?
Our process includes:
A thorough site inspection using tools like thermal imaging
Careful removal of the bees and their hive
Safe relocation of the colony
Cleaning, insulating, and sealing the area to prevent re-infestation
Repairing any openings using salvaged or new materials
A follow-up visit to ensure the issue is fully resolved
5. Will the bees come back after removal?
No. We take extra steps to ensure the honeybees do not return by completely removing the hive, cleaning the area, sealing entry points, and insulating the space. We also offer a guarantee on our work.
6. How long does the removal process take?
The length of the process depends on the size and location of the hive. Most removals take one day, with a follow-up visit the next day to ensure success.
7. Do you remove hives from hard-to-reach places?
Yes! We have specialized equipment, such as lifts and ladders, to access hives in attics, walls, roofs, specialty wood framing, brick, cinderblock and other difficult areas.
Cost & Payment Questions
8. How much does honeybee removal cost?
Pricing varies based on the size and location of the hive and the complexity of the construction involved. Contact us for an inspection and customized quote.
9. Do you offer free estimates?
Due to the specialized nature of our work and expertise, we do not offer free estimates. There is a $200 site visit fee, which covers our professional assessment. However, this fee is deducted from the total cost if we are hired to complete the removal.
10. Do you take insurance?
We recommend checking with your insurance company. In our experience, it is not an issue that insurance covers- but it can’t hurt to check!
Bee Safety & Relocation Questions
11. What do you do with the bees after removal?
We safely relocate the honeybees to one of our managed apiaries, where they continue to thrive and contribute to pollination.
12. Are honeybees aggressive? Will I get stung?
Honeybees are typically not aggressive unless provoked. However, if their hive is disturbed, they may defend it. Our team wears protective gear and follows safe removal practices to prevent stings.
13. Can I just let the bees stay in my home?
While honeybees are beneficial to the environment, keeping them inside your home can lead to structural damage, honey leaks, and infestations from pests attracted to the hive. It’s best to have them safely removed and relocated.
