Honeybee swarm
Although it is quite alarming, it is completely natural for honey bee colonies to swarm. It is the natural means of reproduction for the honey bee.
Swarming usually occurs in the Spring. It is common for these swarms to cluster on trees or outdoor furniture. A swarm is classified as a large football-sized (or larger) cluster of bees suspended from a tree or other structure.
Honey bee swarms are typically not hazardous, but it is advised to have them removed as quickly as possible. We specialize in removing honeybees if they have moved into a cavity in a home or building, not in the collecting of swarms. Therefore, we recommend you visit: beeswarmed.org and report your swarm there, someone will be in touch. Alternatively you can visit: www.montcopabees.org there you will be provided with a list of beekeepers by county who can come and collect your swarm.
